Powermat introduced wireless charging a few years ago, bringing the news of freedom from cables to the world. No more messy wires to plug in delicate ports, no more sitting next to the wall on the floor waiting for the battery to charge. Powermat took this one step further and made wireless charging available in various touch points throughout the day: restaurants, coffee shops, cars, airports, hotels and more. Powermat supports your charge whenever and wherever you go. To find a powered up location, please check our Wireless Charging Locator.
If you are still thinking “why shouldn’t I just stay put with my cable”, this is the read for you.
Cabled charging has many downfalls, here are a few:
Cables tend to burnout:
I can’t even start counting how many cables I threw out over the years. Wired charging cables have the tendency to wear out easily, break, or even just stop working without any reason.
Charging ports tend to burnout: Plugging your charger in your phone all the time, again and again, damages the port itself. The port is quite fragile and includes very small parts, which are easy to break or bend. Even slight movement in the hardware makes an unpleasant charging experience, as you need to find the right angle or lay it down straight to make sure the phone is, in fact, charging.

One cable isn’t enough:
When buying a new mobile device we always start with the original cable and quickly find that one cable isn’t enough. We need at least two at home, one in the car, one in the office, one to take on the go, adding up to a significant amount of spending and inconvenience.
Connecting your charger to the socket:
When driving or on the go, there’s always the awkward moment requiring us to plug in our charger to the wall socket. Plugging in while driving is simply dangerous. While sitting at a restaurant or waiting for your flight at the airport, you need to look for an available socket around the waiting area, need to ask the bartender to plug you in, or bend underneath the table to finally plug in your phone.
Forgot to bring a charger:
Oh no, you know you will have to start begging random people to lend you theirs, awkward again.
These are only some of the reasons cabled charging is inferior to wireless charging. If you want to read more about why now is the time for wireless charging to surge, read here.
